Solar and battery storage for businesses
Why commercial sites are often a strong fit for solar, where storage helps, and what a commercial project involves.
Why daytime users benefit most
Businesses that use most of their electricity during the working day — offices, factories, warehouses, farms, retail — can use a large share of their solar generation directly, which is usually where solar delivers the most value.
Where storage helps
- Sites with weekend or evening operations that would otherwise export surplus solar
- Sites with export limits from the network operator, where storage captures solar that cannot be exported
- Shifting usage away from expensive peak-rate periods
The SOFAR commercial range
SOFAR's commercial inverters run from 15 kW to 350 kW. For storage there are C&I hybrid inverters (HYD-T1, 15–60 kW) and modular CBS battery systems, with CBS8000 cabinets of 64, 80 or 96 kWh. The CH1000A gateway adds remote monitoring and export control across a site.
What a commercial project involves
Expect a site survey, a review of your half-hourly usage data, a structural check of the roof, and a G99 application to the network operator, which can take several weeks. Larger systems may also need planning permission.
